DAMN COYOTE
It is getting bad all over this area. I've lost a few ducks and geese. Neighbors cats. My boy keeps stray cats, Havahart traps them has them fixed and feeds them some, just so they know where a semi perm home is. They kept the squirrels and mice at bay. He has lost all but 1.
I have seen more coy dogs, Red fox and Gray Fox this year than I think in all my years growing up. I have even seen Weasels this year I can not ever remember seeing one in the wild. I have not seen very many small game critters this year and road kill seems to disappear now.
Wife screamed at me a few weeks ago, Red Fox caught in the act, in the edge of the pond. I keep a 22 on counter with solid lead for snappers. Stung it first shot knocked it down 2nd shot and missed 3 rd shot, it was starting to move pretty fast and range about 40yds.
I have reloaded with hollow pts and have moved 30-06 up to counter. When the pond freezes domestic have no chance. I have killed the neighbors dog in the act also.
Good luck on your quest. A couple of road kill will make a good bait pile.
I'll go to leg traps at night with a bait pile and exterminate all that come near.

DAMN COYOTE
Had a fresh set of small tarcks thru the yard Tues am. Red Fox me thinks. The ducks and geese were aggitaited and the wild ones had left so me thinks trouble is brewing in the yard.
I'm looking into some type of motion device, to let me know in the house, when something is moving. They take their time wandering thru the yard so I should have plenty of time once I am alerted. The pond critters stay settled pretty much after dark. Only deer and other critters moving.
Biggest problem I have is the lighting out at the 125 yd line, my big floods light up to about 75yds. Past that I can see but just enough to make out size, hopefully its not the neighbors kinda red dog...Not sure yet how I'm gonna approach that issue short of a Generation III night vision scope. I'm not sure I can justify that kind of money against these stupid ducks and geese...or maybe it's me. They seem to have it pretty good.
I gotta find a better spot for a bait pile. Bait pile up wind is a little rough.

YUP! Good thoughts.
Cutter we've been chewing the fat in varmits vs calibers.
I was up in Albany yesterday at B&J's looking at the Coopers and what ever else he had.
Will be getting the ar-15 type asap, also went to Sheriff dept in home county for Pistol permit application. Saw a Super Blackhawk like I used to have and ...(Wife is searching for the antidote for this bug that has bitten again)... :-0

DAMN COYOTE
I have looked at the size of those lights and am concerned about the size of the power supply. But dragging out a rifle, battery and ammo trying to load...
I'll have to take the time to look at the power supplies and how connected.
I like the thought of a clearly lit up target. Would hate to do the neighbors beagle.
Igotta get a education on all of the glow in the dark red dots and the rest of those type of sights.
Side note: My brothers group he hunts with using dogs to run them have taken 39 just from the area around the Cortland County landfill. I'm not sure about the rest of the areas but the count is up there.
I'm still tinkering with new rifle. Have a Jewell trigger on the way and bedding kit in hand and will work on that nights and this weekend. Have over 100 test loads to try as soon as I clean up trigger and bed.
