I would like to add the hydraulic system to my RTV but dont want to pay out $1200. I know I can do it cheaper. If any of you have a RTV that has the hydraulic bed and could tell me what the part number of the pump and where it is attached and the size of the cylinder. If you would like to call me you can at 512 554 5132. I have a Kawasaki Mule 3010 and it had an electric bed lift. Wasnt very strong, but worked well. Does the bed already have a pivot? Get a small 12v snowplow pump and cylinder. You will need to do some fabrication for a scissor hoist to work with the short stroke.

There is a trick to using the HST on the RTV. The owners manual does not speak to the subject.
Several folks on this and other forums who complained about lack of climbing power have since learned that they were not using the transmission correctly.
The key element is this: when it begins to bog down on hills, you must back off on the throttle. It is totally backward from how a car operates.
The first 1/2 or 2/3 thirds of the gas pedal movement opens the throttle all the way. The rest of the pedal movement controls the flow of hydraulic fluid in the transmission.
So if the pedal is pressed to the floor and the engine begins to bog down on a hill, lifting your foot will re-route the oil flow inside the transmission to apply more power to the wheels and at the same time allow the engine to spool up and produce more hydraulic pressure.

Yes it has the pivot points. I like the RTV but the Mule was a much better climber. I dont climb much, but when I need to I like to have the climbing grip. I think its the tires. They are too hard and dont flex. I might change them to a softer tire like I had on the mule.
Ill look for a 12v pump and a cylinder. I can fab anything hereI have all the tools. I also build hog traps as an extra income. Thank you for your response

Hey if you have the RTV that has the hydraulic lift on it. Could you tell me the model number of te pump and cylinder? And how long the cylinder is?

If you look at a RTV with the dump you will see that the pump has it's own housing and is attached to the top of the transmission. Is it impossible to duplicate no, but time wise as well as for errors, not counting some type of damage to the transmission from poor fit would say the base hydraulic dump is a bargin then modify to your hearts content if you need more outlets.

From my experiences they are not as strong although I beleve it does have enough charging system to handle one. If you could watch one work and then watch an electric work you could see the difference. The hydraulic will dump at least two times in the time it takes an electric to dump once and it does it with ease with far more weight. For my commercial users of the electric dumps they typically get two maybe three years out of the electric rams where the hydralic will live far longer. So it costs 500 to build something so-so and for double that you have something that is factory original and worth that much more when selling.
