Kubota's RTV
Notice the thread has been moved and would like all owners to continue with the Good & Bad points that they have experienced with their RTV 900....

For now I think we are going to buy a couple of Honda Ranchers or Recons. I can't speak from ownership experience but it seems to be a pretty familiar criticism that the RTV needs at least another 20 hp, much higher ground clearance, and a much for articulated suspension. I think Kubota has the right idea with the RTV 900 and with some follow-on changes will be a great all around machine for off road and ranch work. I am not a real big fan of the Polaris Ranger XP but it is currently the best machine on the market in my opinion.

Randy, Nice to see you again.
As to your planed purchases I just implore you to discount the good and not-so-good observations by others, myself included as a well known positive advocate of The RTV900 and test fly them side by side on your property as you would use them in an everyday working envioroment!!
I gave this measured advice to my brother who has 360 acres of hilly woodlands/farmland in up-state NY. he chose the RTV900 WS over all others he had demo'ed and even kept his two Gators for the Wife and Grandkids.. He has told his younger brother that for once he was right!! .
P.S. It is my honest appraisal that the RTV900 has more than adequate horsepower for any working application short of sport hillcliming/racing!

Kubota's RTV
OK Dean, here we go.
Some general/global changes I made:
Chrome rims with Maxxis BigHorn tires.
Completely replaced cargo box with new one that includes integrated storage.
Gun mount/boot
Ramsey winch
2" lift kit
Lexan windshield (quick attach or removal).
4 forward facing lights
1 light in cabin area
2 rearward (can pivot to side) general lights
Strobe light on the roof.
1 cargo box light
1 light under box for rear receiver area
3rd (middle) seatbelt
Ceiling panel inside cabin. On this is mounted:
Stereo/CD
2 marine speakers towards the front
2 Cerwin Vega box speakers mounted to the rear of the ROPS
320w amp (wedged between ceiling and roof panel)
1 12V accessory plug
2 panels of 5 switches each - marine switches to run all this "stuff"
Across the front of the ROPS, just below the ceiling, I made a 3/4" bar that goes across to hold accessories made for ATV's. On this, I've put a nascar style rear view mirror, 2 other wide angle mirrors, and RAM mount spotlight, pistol holder, GPS/Cell holder.
The battery has been replaced with a deep cycle marine battery. I'm working on a dual battery setup with an isolator for the aux. battery.
I think there's more on the machine but can't think of anything else right now.
I'm making a multi-mount system so I can have a winch in the rear of the machine. Also making a bar to mount across the front of the grill guard that can hold chainsaws and other tools.
I also have the glove box but don't care much for it. I'm considering a 12v cooler instead. (one of those kind that you can put on the seat of your car or wherever).

Glad to see you got your ISP problems ironed out as well! I haven't given up on the RTV. I think it is going through growing pains and my hopes are that Kubota will address these shortcomings and update the machine. For now, we are going to try some smaller machines as we have a large acreage to cover that currently has pretty narrow trails and very steep terrain.
